Hi guys.
I have some trouble choosing between these gloves:
Reusch Serie A Ortho Tec size 8

Really like the design of these gloves + I need the finger saves to "stabilize" the hands, especially when saving hard shots. How are the mega grip foam compared to nikes in grip?
Nike Total 90 Confidence Size 9

Well these gloves look wicked, I like nikes contact foam. Really tacky and excellent grip. My problem is, im not that keen on paying 100 Euros for them, but I can get hold of a pair for only 60 euros. However they are in size 9.
Ive previously owned a pair of Nike premier tactility gloves in size 7, and they were really tight and to small. How do you think a size 9 of confidence gloves will fit? Will they be to big? How much does the sizes differ between one another?
Finally, for some one who appreciates fingersaves normally, do you think these gloves are to "weak"? Im thinking of eventually buying me a pair of these to help stabilize the hands if you guys think they will do any difference: http://www.great-save.com/64ofkq905064/Goalkeeper-Accessories/Nike-Accessories/Nike-Wrist-and-Thub-wrap/p-71-166-1315/
Hope someone can help me, its a couple of tricky questions I know... but would really appreciate any feedback and help I can get.

you sound young.
buy gloves that fit properly, not ones that are too big. if a size 7 is too small, try an 8.
personally i don't think people should use Finger Protection gloves unless they are injured. work on the strength in your hands and arms, and your technique. don't buy gloves to do the job that your hands should be doing. gloves should be used to help you grip the ball, not to "stabilise" your hands.
Thanks not a bad thing, eh cardiffkeeper?
Hey Fubarish, here's a good way to measure what glove size is right for you. Get a measuring tape, measure the circumference of the widest part of your palms, and round up to the nearest inch (6.2 inch > 6 in // 6.8 inch > 7). Then, add 1 inch to that and you have your glove size!
To be honest Fubarish, save your money. These gloves may look awesome and perform well, but don't shy away from some of the grassroots gloves, such as KA Goalkeeping, The One Glove, D-Fleckt, and etc. These gloves are just as good, and about $40 - $60 less!
Also, stay away from fingersave gloves as cardiff mentioned, you need to train your hands to withstand the force of the shots.
thanks for your answers... I´ve decided to skip fingersaves this time around.... so it probably stands between the new HO Elite Pro Gloves or the Nike Confidence gloves....
Heh well I´ve looked on some more "cheap" brands like you mentioned.. but for me.. who is a "material" player.. they haven´t been able to convince me yet... although I know they aren´t as bad as I may think... but for me.. the design isn´t good enough... they usually look to cheap...Immature perhaps.. but my choice nonetheless....
Any thoughts on the HO and nike gloves? Which should I choose?
And if Im not mistaken, the HO gloves usually are a tad small in size? Or am I mistaken..?
HO gloves normally come up identical in size to all other major brands. the only glove i can think of that varies from the standard pattern is the One Glove which is always a size smaller than normal (ie buy a 9 if you are an 8).
I dont think you can wrong with the KA or Warby's all white look...............classic yet modern. They dont look cheap at all, neither do The One Glove or Pro-Gk for that matter.

okey guys.. thanks for all your help... on the design part.. I think its all relative.. meaning.. a glove that look perfect to me.. might not do the same to you... and vice versa.... And you might challenge my cheap looking comment, and you´re probably right aswell... But for me it stands between the nike and HO gloves... not because Im that good and "need" to play with major brands products.. just simply because I prefer them especially designwise..... But one day I might grow up and try the grassroot brands aswell.......
I think you should be more open, the smaller brands arent bad. I'm sure thay will give you a suprise You will get more value for money with a grassroots brand compared to Nike and Ho. You could get 2 pairs of KA/D-Flekt, etc. for one pair of Nikes.
Just my opinion but I think you cant go wrong with the smaller brands and try not get sucked into buying the 'Big guns'. That happened to me when I 1st started goalkeeping and I sorta regret it.
Just my opinion mate
D
Also just because the Nike and HO gloves look better, it doesnt mean they will perform better. If the best gloves in the world were the ugliest I would still probably buy them.
Dida still needs a team! lol
Why be negative when you can be Positive? Beats me!
Keepers are criticised and praised, its the keepers choice to decide what to listen to.
Fubarish, don't take what we're saying the wrong way... what we are trying to do is save you money!
A $120 pair of Nike Confidences will not outperform a $40 pair of gloves from KA Goalkeeping, WGK, The 1 Glove, Warby Bros. (etc) to the extent that it will make up for the cost difference, it just won't. Is that extra $40 - $60 bucks worth a "cool" backhand design (I honestly think the Confidences look ugly)? Do yourself a favor, take up Kenny Arthur's (KA Goalkeeping) offer and get two pairs of his outstanding gloves for the price of one!
My $40 KA Goalkeeping Roll Fingers have performed just as well as my $110 Reusch Ortho-Tecs. I honestly feel sorry for making my father waste that much money on a glove after seeing the various and cheaper alternatives!
If you're absolutely deadset on buying a pair of either Nike's or HO's gloves, and we aren't making any headway... I'd go with the HO.
There are alot of things to consider when buying gloves and hopefully our members can help when it comes to giving advice during the buying decision. Big brand or little brand as long as its the right decision for you then its the right decision.
As you will be aware the smaller brands have vocal fans on here with good reason, but equally there are probably hundreds of less vocal fans of the big brands on here. If you are tempted to try a smaller/lesser known brand maybe get them as a training glove initially.
I remember as a young keeper the brand name and aesthetics were massively important to me and really did influence my confidence levels going into a match. To be honest there's nothing wrong with that either, whether you pay $40 or $110 just enjoy the gloves :)

That is also true, you have to feel confident in whatever you wear. I have the felt the most confident on One Gloves for a number of reasons, which is why I'm so keen on them. I'm sorry if it felt like I was trying to impose my views I was only trying to save you money and just explain that the big guns are always the best.
At the end of the day it's best to buy what you feel comfrotable with
BUT guys look at it this way, think if he was to purchase a pair of gloves through our opinions then hes not going to have any confidence in the gloves, lets help him pick the gloves that he wants, we are all here to help as always
wow... thanks for all your help and responses.... Sry if I seem a little bitchy/defensive... its not my intention....
I dunno why Im so set on buying expensive major brand gloves... but I guess its something that follows my usual shopping behaviour... but I know you´re prob right... the smaller brands can compete with the bigger ones qualitywise.... and I haven´t wrote them off yet.. but when HO releases a glove that to me lookes wicked sick.. I just can´t help myself.. I just need to buy me a pair... I think Im damaged and the product of the modern advertising age :)
And simmo thanks for the sizehelp on the T90, Im def gonna take it under consideration...
Haha, no worries Fubarish.
Really, it's all down to you... it's your money.
