Plugging Away

Its been a few weeks since I wrote last and alot has gone on here in Chicago.  We hit a rough patch and lost 4 straight and then tied Salt Lake.  It was a tough period because we weren't playing that well and were picking up injuries.  We got back on track this past weekend with a nice win against Columbus 3-2.  This keeps us in 4th.  I thought I might get my chance with the bad results but Dave(the coach) decided to stick with Matt.  I respect him for sticking with "his guy"  even though I would love to play.  My time will come.  I have played in a few reserve games and have enjoyed those.  The latest one was against Columbus and they gave me a busy day.  I feel that I have found my rhythm again in games from these games.  Its not the real thing but its as close as I can get for now.

I think the tough part about not playing week in and week out is staying consistent.  Some days you feel sharp and others you feel like you can't save a single shot.  It becomes a mental battle to stay positive and to focus on the little things every session.  I want to make sure I am ready when my chance comes and make the most of it.  The silver lining of not playing is it gives me extra time to really focus on my game and spend the extra time working on things after training with the gk coach.  I think sometimes he wishes I would just get off the field, haha.  But I feel you can never be satisfied with where you are.  The day you are satisfied is the day you should hang up your gloves and that day is no where close.  So I will keep plugging away.

In the soccer world its abit slow now that most of the leagues are done.  Its now time for all the rumors about who is going where.  Just read about Ben Foster and his knee.  What bad luck,  he had a great season and was going to have a run at Edwin.  Hopefully he will get his knee right and get another chance at the No. 1 jersey.
