Getting close to crunch time...

Well we are at the end of another successful week. Just finished up another

tough week of workouts and training. Most of the Crew boys are back in town

now so we have been training together on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Also

the workouts with the fitness trainers are coming to an end. I will have a

lighter week next week before we start preseason on Saturday Feb. 3rd. I am

really looking forward to getting going. My knee is feeling great and I am

very happy with where I am in the training process. I really think I am going

to surprise some people. I am very excited about this Crew team, we have a

lot of potential and a great mix of older and younger players. I am also

very glad to see that Frankie Hejduk has signed back. We need his leadership

and work ethic. It will be interesting how the gk situation plays out. We

have a total of four gks on our roster. the other 3 gks are younger, with good

potential. I am looking forward to those guys pushing me for the position.

My only focus is to stay healthy and let everything else work its way out.

After two long years of injuries I simply want to be on the field for the

entire season this year.

The MLS is heating up with a lot of possible foreign player action. First

the Galaxy sign Beckham. Next Captain America signs with NY. Wow it is going

to be an exciting year playing against these guys. I wonder who will sign

next? I think these moves are great for the league, they give the league more

marketability.

Things are heating up in the EPL as well. Great to see Petr Cech back in

goal for Chelsea. Don't like seeing Shay Given is injured again. Now that

ManU slipped up this past weekend and opened the door a crack get ready for an

exciting finish to the season. Should be great to watch.

Until next time.

Good luck for the coming season Jon.

It seems like the MLS will be a cracker to watch this year, we don't get many games down here in New Zealand, but U always found myself enjoying it when I did :D

Hows the knee Buschy? I hate to ask it, but as a fellow "dodgy knee" goalkeeper I have to ask, does it play on your mind?

Also who's Captain America?

I know you guys get highlights of the A-League over there, it would be great if they showed the MLS over here.

Olá Jon.

Thank you so much for the signed gloves. I have to thank you and the TGB team, Chewie and Jimmy, too. A valued momentum that I will never forget.

I wish all the Crew gang and specially you the best for the season ahead.

I wanted to ask you the same questions as Jimmy. I also had right knee ACL rupture and middle meniscus parcial rupture and after 18 months it still plays in my head. Most of the time... And by the way, who the hell is Captain America ...

I hope to see more MLS games in pay-per-view TV SportTV. Hope that the Spice Boy will help bring attention to the US soccer league.

All the best.

You fan in Portugal.

Thanks for all the support guys.  I don't even think about the knee.  It feels great.  As for Captain America, Claudio Renya.

thanks

I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Jon will be in the mix for GK of the year.  Top 4 for sure.

Bushy

When Beckham bends it, I fully expect you to slap that ball back in his face! Onward and upward, dammit!

JB - What can I say but I'm proud of how far you've come, not that I ever doubted you would.  Your work ethic and focus has always been one that puts most athletes to shame.  Keep those knees straight and you'll be back up with the boys in blue in no time.

Since leaving Charlotte I've played with several of your old mates.  Mike LaBerge and I are platooning on a couple of teams playing in Atlanta and tournaments throughout the southeast.  I've been lucky to only have two meniscal tears and a broken collarbone during this time.  It hurts gettin' old.

Hope you're family is well.  Stay healthy and best of luck this year.

Your long-lost room mate, EV
