Like a pig in you know what........

Well I am like a pig in ... well you know. I have returned to gk training

with the others and have been cleared to dive and all. I have no more

restrictions during that training. I am just not allowed to play when we join up

with the field players. The docs and trainers don't want me to have any

contact. So playing is the only restriction left. I am enjoying being able to

dive around again. I am feeling pretty good. The legs still get abit tired

during reps, but that is just getting the training legs back. That will come

by the end of mini camp. Our gk coach Eddie is very pleased with where I am

at the moment. He said the other day that if you didn't know I had an injury

you wouldn't know by just watching me. So that was a nice boost to my

confidence. So I will continue to train with the gks until the end of mini camp.

Also I will continue in the weight room 2-3 days a week. But as the trainer

has informed me our emphasis is now getting me back to goalkeeping fitness.

It is nice to be back and to realize that the hard work in the weight room

has paid off. Now the next step will be to eventually play in a game but

that won't be until preseason starts. So for now I will simply concentrate on

my training.

Meanwhile the MLS playoffs are heating up. There were some great games this

weekend. I enjoyed the NY/DC series. I thought NY looked very good and

deserved to win. Matt Reis was his usual stellar self in New England's win in

the pk shootout. It makes for two very exciting conference finals.

Also its great to see/hear that Shay Given is back in training. I can't

wait to see him back on the field again.

Until next time.

Jon,

When will you be cleared for contact?  Do you look forward to getting to it, or does it sit in the back of your mind that contact is your most serious challenge to date after your surgery?  Good luck.

Well that is up to the doc.  This Thursday is 6 months and that is usually when you are cleared.  But since we are done camp for the winter on Thursday he will probably just let it go until I need to be cleared in preseason.  If I need to be cleared before that he would clear me.

Does it scare you at all, or is it something you do not even think about?

Sorry forgot to answer that.   I think about it abit but not too much.  It will happen and when it does that will be the last hurdle to get over.

Hey Buschy! Glad to hear you're back in training. A buddy of mine from Hawaii got drafted to the Crew last season and within a week, you and three other keepers got injured, so he got traded for another keeper. When it rains, it pours, I guess! Anyway, just thought I'd share that. Can't wait to see you back in action! Looking forward to next season. Take care!

Was that Duke, I think that was him.  He was a funny kid.  Yea it was a tough few months at the begining of the season for the gks.  Hopefully now that is all behind us.

Yup, that was Duke. Just played a Futsal tournament with him this past weekend. Great player...have you guys picked up any new keepers, or is it the same group that got injured?

Man, I can't believe the number of keepers you guys have, is Noah on loan or signed with the Crew? What about Walker, how's his rehabilitation? It seems like he's been out for years now.

Noah is signed.  Walker is still out.  His back is still bad.  That is all I know on that.
